Orion Bench Buddy

In partnership with Orion I am pleased to bring you the Bench Buddy. As always I will continue to curate products I use myself whether they're made by me or someone else. So who better to describe the bench buddy than Nick himself? Here's his own words on it:

The Orion Bench Buddy! A solid beech or walnut bench organizer to be your buddy while you work on your watches. Designed to match the angle of the wing on Swisotech and Ergolift benches - should fit many more!

This elegant organizational tool will improve your workflow and reduce bench clutter. After using mine for years, it’s hard to imagine not having it. Most white wood watchmaking benches are made of beech, the Bench Buddy is designed to blend in with the beech - or stand out in the limited walnut.

I decided on hardwood for a number of reasons - firstly I wanted to create a long lasting product, something that can be on your bench for decades. Solid hardwoods can last a very long time with the right care. With many brands opting for cheaper options such as MDF/HDF( fiber board that’s cheap) you end up with products that don’t look very good and can off-gas (emit) chemicals like formaldehyde. For certain applications these materials are fine, but as a bench accessory and one that’s near your face each day, it should not be emitting toxic chemicals. Beauty, hardwood is naturally beautiful and creating a harmonious and beautiful landscape in your working environment makes work a bit more pleasurable and reduce stress.
